What is PioMu? PioMu is a premier shop for safe, eco-friendly, educational and skill-building toys and essential items for babies, kids, and moms. PioMu is affiliated with the prestigious 1% for the Planet organization, a global alliance of businesses that are working from different perspectives to solve the environmental crisis. By joining 1% for the Planet, PioMu made a commitment to donate 1% of sales to environmental organizations.
PioMu was recently awarded the Green Business Association Seal and supports the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families organization which seeks to reform the existing laws regarding toxics in consumer products, including toys. |
Our Mission Our mission is to empower parents to make educated purchasing decisions by providing them with valuable information and offering safer alternatives for their children and our world. Our Vision Our vision is to provide children with optimal development and learning opportunities that minimize our impact on the planet’s resources and the incidence of childhood disorders caused by exposure to toxics found in some common children products. And of course, we want them to have fun! Our Name So, what does ‘PioMu’ mean? We wanted to have a cool, fun, unique name! In Spanish, it is the sound of a chick ‘pio’ and the sound of a cow ‘mu’, those farm animals that children love. Together, they form our business name! |

| PioMu was founded by two successful young professionals and dedicated parents. In this venture, they found a common passion for providing their kids and all children with safe play and a healthier life. |

Glorimar Ripoll
With a Bachelor’s degree in Management Science and Master’s degree in Engineering from MIT, Glorimar had a passion for technology and was thankful to be living her career dream. Her baby boy changed it all. Her entrepreneurial spirit and motherly instinct took her in another direction. She conceptualized PioMu and now has witness its success. Glorimar also taught pre-calculus at a local high school and she interviews MIT undergraduate applicants from Puerto Rico and, together with her husband, she leads the MIT undergrad recruitment effort in the island. Luis Benitez Luis has an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science degree from MIT. This gives him a solid background in his field and his achievements at a multi-national technology company are remarkable. He has become a lead voice for social software implementations for organizations. As a consultant and social software evangelist, he has traveled the world from China to Buenos Aires and everything in between, getting to know many people from different cultures.
Luis is an adorable and charming dad. He loves to make his kids laugh and makes the best bedtime stories. He goes to pediatric appointments and infant classes. Luis enjoys walking the dog, coding for fun, and since he is a pilot, he absolutely loves flying a Cessna along the beautiful coastline of Puerto Rico. Anybody interested in a ride? |
Glorimar is an Information Technology professional who became a devoted mother in 2008 with the birth of her first child. She had dedicated more than 5 years to managing strategic technology projects and to designing enterprise-wide systems for a prestigious local financial institution.
Traveling so much made Luis treasure the times spent with his family and is grateful for the technology that makes possible video-chatting with them from thousands of miles away.
